The Eikund Evja Coffee Table – Rectangle, designed by Torbjørn Bekken in 1958, is a refined example of Norwegian mid-century furniture that combines technical precision with an organic, almost floating expression. Part of the Evja family of lounge tables, its elegant proportions and flowing construction give it a lightness that makes the table feel as though it is gently suspended above the floor.

Bekken graduated from the National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in 1946 and was soon recruited by the progressive Norwegian furniture and interior design firm Rastad & Relling Tegnekontor, where he worked for most of his career. Known for his technical approach, attention to detail, and elegant designs, Bekken created furniture in which structure and aesthetics work seamlessly together.

The Evja Coffee Table is characterised by a long, uninterrupted curve that flows from the edge of the tabletop down toward the legs. The legs gradually taper as they approach the floor, creating a graceful silhouette reminiscent of a ballerina lightly balancing on the surface.

Available in two sizes, the rectangular Evja provides a versatile centrepiece for living rooms, lounges, and contemporary interiors. Its understated Scandinavian character allows the sculptural craftsmanship to remain the focus while offering generous functional surface space.
