The GUBI Stemlite Floor Lamp is an iconic piece of modern lighting history, originally designed by American designer Bill Curry in 1962. Recognised as the first “total look” lamp, the Stemlite challenged conventional lighting design by replacing the traditional base-and-shade construction with a single sculptural form made from interchangeable modules.

Curry’s groundbreaking design quickly became an influential symbol of the Space Age movement. In 1965, the Stemlite was named “most influential lamp of the year” by Industrial Design Magazine, appeared on the set of the original Star Trek television series, and remained in production until 1977. GUBI later remastered the design, preserving its original character while refining it for contemporary interiors.

The Stemlite Floor Lamp remains faithful to Curry’s original concept, combining a sculptural base with a distinctive spherical globe to create a seamless, self-contained silhouette. Its simple geometry gives the lamp a strong decorative presence while maintaining a refined and timeless appearance.
